Mancora

Tuesday 17th May

I arrived into Mancora about 18:00 from Chiclayo and made my way to Loki Hostel but they had no rooms so I had to head over to the Point Hostel and checked in there for one night (30Sol). I was told that tonight was the night of all nights to be staying in the Point Hostel as it was a Full Moon Party but it was pretty crap! I did end up meeting up with some great travellers here from England, Scotland, Germany, and Switzerland who were also heading to Loki hostel the next day so it was great to have a nice group to hang out with. I also met up with Irene (who I shared a dorm with in Lima) so it was good to meet up with her again.

Wed 18th - Friday 20th

Checked out of the Point hostel and headed back to Loki .. I had a reservation here for 3 nights.

My first impression of this hostel was great ... huge apartment style complex right on the beach, with a huge swimming pool and bar, but the longer I stayed here the less I liked it. This is a real party hostel!! Didnt spend much time by the pool seen as the hostel was right on the beach. Mancora beach is beautiful and the weather was scorching hot every day. This place is really popular with surfers. Had some great nights out here and met a great bunch of other backpackers.

Saturday 21st

Checked out of Loki on Saturday morning and checked into Hospedaje Sombras ... located on the beachfront. This is where I should have stayed for the past few days. Private room ensuite with cable tv for 20 Sols. Bargain. Its a pity I didnt find this place sooner. Spent another day on Mancora beach enjoying the sunshine.

Booked my ticket to leave Mancora tomorrow (reluctantly as I could stay here easily for another week or two) and go north to Loja in Ecuador (70Sols, appx 250km, 11 hours)

Sunday 22nd May

I arranged to check out late today so had my room until 17:00 which was great and meant I could spend another day literally doing nothing but sitting on the beach and enjoying the sunshine. My bus into Ecuador was due to depart from Mancora at 17:30 but didnt leave until nearly 19:30. I then had to get a connecting bus from a town called Sullana but there were more delays with the bus so it was almost 23:30 leaving the bus terminal. I reached the Ecuadorian border crossing about 02:00 in the morning and I arrived into Loja about 06:30 next morning.
