Arrived into Cuenca about 10:30 this morning and checked into ´Posada del Rio´ hostel in the town centre. Took a walk around town for a bit then caught a bus out to visit 3 small towns outside Cuenca .. Sigsig, Chordeleg and Gualaceo ($2 bus to visit all of the 3 towns). I heard these towns had good markets but apparantly only on weekends as they were pretty quiet mid week.

After getting back to the hostel in the evening I met some other backpackers and later went out for a walk about town.
Thursday 26th May
Set off early today to catch a bus from the terminal to Ingapirca .. a site of ancient Inca ruins close to Cuenca.
Friday 27th May
Free day walking around Cuenca ... beautiful city.
Later in the evening I hit the town with David (from France) and Graham and Shelley (from England) who were all staying in the hostel. We went to a few bars and ended up in a Karaoke bar singing all evening. Good fun.
Saturday 28th May
Checked out of the hostel, said goodbye to Graham and Shelley and made my way to the bus station to catch a bus to Riobamba. I had to wait around for a bit as there were no buses leaving until 14:00 ($5, 5 hours, 268kms).
