Chiclayo

Sunday 15th May

Arrived into Chiclayo about 17:00 and made my way to Hostal Victoria (30 Sols per night) and checked in for 2 nights. Spent the evening walking about... it was nice enough in the centre of town but beyond that theres not so much to see. The main reason why travellers seem to come here (like Trujillo where I had just been) seems to be to visit archaelogical ruins.

Monday 16th May

Early start this morning so I could catch a local bus out to Sipan (30kms southeast of Chiclayo) to see the museum and an archaeological site.

Some photos of the small villages on my trip back into Chiclayo ...

Later in the afternoon after getting back to Chiclayo I took a walk around the north part of town and also through the ´Mercado Modelo´ .. a huge market with crafts, food and witch doctor medicine.

Tuesday 17th May

Early start today as I wanted to catch a local bus to a village outside Chiclayo called Lambayeque (11 kms) to visit the Archaeological Museuem (Museo Tumbes Reales de Sipan).. which turned out to be good but the whole thing was in Spanish so I really didnt understand much. Anyway .. it was worth the trip out. Took a short walk around the town of Lambayeque afterwards.

I made it back to the hostel for 11:30 .. plenty of time to pack my backpack and check out and make my way down to the bus station for my 12:30 bus to Mancora (320 kms appx, 30 Sols, 5hrs 30 mins).
