Sucre

Tuesday 8th March

Myself, James and Becky arrived into Sucre on Tuesday morning about 07:00 and checked into La Dolce Vita Hostel

... nice hostel but a bit pricey for a solo traveller (90 Bs per night) as they dont have dorms .. which is a bit of a pity as its a nice hostel. Went for a walk around town to get breakfast and came back to the hostel and crashed for the afternoon. Absolutely nothing open in Sucre today .. as today is the final day of Carnaval. It was pouring rain all afternoon but there were loads of people out on the streets playing music and having water fights to celebrate the final day of Carnaval. Difficult to walk down the street without getting hit by waterbombs!

Wednesday 9th March

Met up with Ania (Polish girl I met in Potosi and Oruro) and we went for breakfast with James and Becky. Later myself, James and Becky headed up to the Mirador de la Recoleta which has a nice view over Sucre.

Later I spent the afternoon walking around Sucre taking more photos.

Thursday 10th March

Decided to leave Sucre today with James and Becky and head to Cochabamba for Carnaval there at the weekend. After getting our bus tickets I hung out in the town centre and met up with Bridget who I had met some weeks ago back in Cafayate in Argentina.

Bus at 19:30 to Cochabamba ... 10 hour journey, 370km (90Bs) .... I dread these Bolivian bus journeys! To make matters worse I got pickpocketed at the bus station in Sucre but luckily I had emptied my wallet an hour earlier and was only carrying about 20 Euro ... very lucky!

Loads of backpackers I had met said Sucre is a nice spot but I think becuase we were staying here for only 2 nights and rushing onto Cochabamba we didnt get to experience Sucre all that much ... nevertheless despite the rain its a nice city and if I had more time I would have liked to have spent a few more days here and see the nightlife at the weekend ....
